Day 11 - Music, Mail, and Major Celebration!

7/5/2017

It was a rainy day in Ashland, Virginia, but come rain or shine, the Academy must go on! Students from the intermediate class taught two songs to the beginner class (mori no kumasan and do re mi), using music to expand vocabulary and knowledge of katakana. In the evening, everyone celebrated the birthday of a student from the academy with singing and cake. After a long drought of mail due to holidays, letters and care packages flooded in, giving students another cause to rejoice.

It is delightful to see the kids with their letters and packages! I hope we will get to hear some of the songs at closing ceremony! It's hard to believe the Academy is already halfway done!
