Surprising and Serene!

Today we completed our morning routine and started the planning for the Oshibai (play). We split into teams and collaborated on different aspects of the Oshibai. We were able to express our strengths in our respective teams, such as character design, screenplay, and music. In the PM class, we put further emphasis on the lessons that were taught yesterday, such as Hiragana (one of the alphabets), descriptive traits, and practicing common Konbini (convenience stores) phrases. Afterwards, we had a serene Shodou lesson (Japanese calligraphy) taught by our advanced language teacher, Rie Sensei. This course allowed us to write our kanji to express our individuality on our own headband, provided by the academy. One student even said “Rie Sensei’s knowledge of Shodou helped me find a meditative state of mind and allowed my arm to flow with each brush stroke.” After finishing a flavorful dinner, we all headed to the auditorium for a much awaited himitsu (surprise), planned by the staff. We all sang our hearts out to karaoke for an hour and a half, ending the joyous time with a short round of Just Dance. This was a dandy surprise, which the students all greatly enjoyed and it allowed us to boogie the night away!
